Clint Eastwood Hereafter Movie Pulled From Japan

There has been an outpouring of support for Japan after the earthquake and tsunami that left much of the Japanese population in the North devastated.
Interestingly enough, even Warner Bros has shown some sentiment. The film company pulled Hereafter from theaters and postponed the premiere of The Rite in the country.
Hereafter, which was directed by Clint Eastwood, features scenes that depict the 2004 tsunami. Cecile de France, a French actor, plays a journalist who barely survives the tsunami.
There is a scene that depicts her character drowning in the aftermath of the disaster.
As such, it was a good move on the part of Warner Bros to remove this film, as they deemed the tsunami scenes “not appropriate” for the time.
They also pulled The Rite, but this is more likely to preserve a grand opening for the film starring Anthony Hopkins. The Rite confronts the slightly more cheerful topic of exorcism.
Eastwood has yet to comment on the pulling of the film, though it is likely he supported the decision.
This represents an interesting act on the part of Warner Bros. We can only speculate as to when Hereafter will be re-released in Japan. Paramount Pictures waited 5 years to release World Trade Center, a film depicting 9/11.
