After Peter Jackson’s successful surgery in January for a perforated ulcer, it looks like the filming for Warner Bros and New Line’s The Hobbit is finally underway with Martin Freeman taking the title role as Bilbo Baggins.
This should be an interesting role for Freeman, who starred in the British version of The Office and in the film adaption of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
What can we expect with this new film? Surely, awesome graphics and scenery to depict the dragon or the Misty Mountains, which were portrayed in The Lord of the Rings film series.
Sir Ian McKellen will reprise his role as Gandalf the Grey and Cate Blanchett will return as Galadriel. Elijah Wood, as Frodo, has also been included in the casting list, so it will be interesting to see what role he takes in The Hobbit.
Given it’s Peter Jackson again adapting J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit film is slated for success, perhaps even more so than the first films given the popularity of the book. We know a lot more people who enjoyed The Hobbit than the full trilogy and, as such, maybe The Hobbit will attract a broader audience.
